Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Until I moved in to my new practice space I hadn’t played drums in five years so I’ve been practicing a few times a week with records to get my groove back. Saturday I am playing drums at a friend’s costume party. He has a bass drum and toms so I’ll only need to bring cymbals, snare, hardware and a chair but already kind of dreading packing up all that heavy stuff. On the other hand I am looking forward to playing drums again with a band so it should be fun.
The cidery is getting an indoor space next to the tasting room ready for winter shows. We used the stage on Tuesday for the open mic and since I signed up to play first, my usual preference, I was the first person to play on it. The back wall of the space is two large commercial garage doors, probably about 15-20 feet tall so better airflow than a completely enclosed room. Chairs will be spaced appropriately as they were at open mic so it should be pretty safe. Except for the rare days it could be really cold the big doors will probably be able to stay open for the air flow.

Vince made his “Dry English” for his recent 25th Anniversary celebration. It is barrel aged in French oak and it is absolutely delicious. I had forgotten about it as he hasn’t made it since pre covid.

Well- this isn’t quite the Friday I had planned. I’m in an American hospital for the first time as a patient. Poor Baron is going to have to watch the Astros on his own!
I’m pretty scared and totally out of my depth to be honest. Please write lots of hilarious jokes.

Here's hoping you get good care Minnie. Get well soon.
I can't think of any good jokes right now. Hey, maybe you can tell us about the best Hallows'eve costume you've ever donned? I'm sure it was nothing ordinary.

Four hours of drumming last night at a party. We played outdoors in the rain but covered and protected from the elements. Eight guitars, bass, mandolin, flute, harmonica and me. I was a beast. Going over to Rebecca’s daughter’s house today to play some songs on guitar for her birthday.

Thanks Carol! I got home yesterday evening - Thanks to it being U S A the room had a sports channel so my husband got to watch the Astros and we got to watch Utd capitulate too. Also thanks to it being U S A we await a fascinating bill! Thanks everyone who got in touch. I felt the love, man!
I haven't stayed overnight in a hospital since my tonsillectomy when I was 5, and I was taken aback at how absolutely terrified I was. It's not as if it was a UK hospital where I know the process like the back of my hand-everything was unfamiliar. I'm keen not to repeat the experience any time soon.
One of the student nurses saw I was reading a book by Patti Smith and said "oh I love Patti Smith! Do you like Kate Bush?" and I put down my book and motioned for her to come sit beside me and listen to my music lecture, and she has probably now changed careers.
