I remember those bastards, or, at least, trying to escapes their clutches. I ended up with quite a few unwanted records, too, having forgotten to reject the monthly 'Editor's Choice'. Twats.

They must have had teams of lawyers employed making sure you couldn't extricate yourself from their snares.

The record of the month that you had to explicitly reject just being their most evil ruse.

Heaven forfend! :)

No, my dealings with Cob were all mail order ones. I used to do a bit of dealing in bootlegs at university and would plough my illicit gains into record purchases. And Cob were my favourite supplier; their catalogue was extensive and their prices very reasonable. And, as I said earlier, they would buy any old crap in exchange. :)

I wrote for the student paper and got a lot of freebies which I then needed to shift. Cob would even take the Jimmy Shand releases!

I remember the screeds of albums printed on yellow A4 that were their mail order sheets well.

Boomtown Rats - I love that song.

And the JAMC track. I have not listened to them for too long.

It is a great conceit isn't it, writing a song in the voice of Hitler?

A brilliant if limited band, but limitations never stopped me enjoying AC/DC, Quo, The Ramones, The Pistols and a load of others.

But that song went off like a little nuclear weapon in the indieland of 1985. It rocked our little world

Another great read -- I've fallen very behind on these! I really like the notion of the circle from Simon & Garfunkel to the Smiths and back to Robert Johnson and the like!

I would note that a few of the initial youtube links are already dead. These threads might require some maintenance!
