What's a good photo hosting site? Photobucket isn't great, and it keeps asking me to verify through an e-mail I no longer have. I'm ready to move on!

Thanks! It certainly made a big impression on me. The dreams I’ve been having…

Have you been to that part of the world, Harv?

I've put about 300 photos on my dropbox-thing so if anyone wants to see the full whack just pm me with your email address. I'm still sorting out a selection, which will appear on this thread sooner rather than later!

I visited LA when I was a kid - my grandparents lived in a retirement community in Azusa, and we did all the touristy stuff while we were there: Disneyland, Universal Studios, San Diego zoo, etc., and then I went back in my early twenties on a road trip across the states with a couple friends. We spent a night in Santa Monica, but I didn't have the best time - my buddies were more interested in getting wasted and picking up chicks, and I just wanted to wander around and look at things, and it turned into a bit of a shitshow. One guy took off and we spent the night looking for him. Aside from LA the rest of the trip was a blast!

And yeah, as Jim says, I'm due for a return trip.

Didn't know about the Azusa thing! That's very close to where I grew up, just a couple towns away and definitely the same vibe.

They retired there from Montreal. I guess they got tired of winter. I was amazed by the smell of eucalyptus everywhere, and their avocado, lemon and almond trees. I'd never experienced anything like it! My biggest disappointment of the trip was not being able to see the wombat at the SD zoo, 'cause it was hiding. I didn't even know what a wombat was!

Most excellent photos. Clearly some dodgy characters roaming the motel corridors...
