No Nitro?

:) Apparently, Huntress and Brittney's Rage are also on the bill.

According to their Facebook posts, Marc and Sofia made it out to the desert and are having a good time tripping out, probably experiencing temperatures they've never felt before. Luckily, I think this was part of the intention of the trip, to have a deep CA desert experience. I think they are planning to be back by the weekend for some sort of jolly-up action.

I am unlikely to have much availability Saturday or Sunday, but maybe Sunday night, and likely Monday. I'll keep my eyes on the thread.

Hmmm, 100-ish degree heat, sweaty, crowded, mediocre and too loud to talk. Not real sure about this.

It's 114 in Woodland Hills today. It was 115 yesterday, so there seems to be a cooling trend in progress.

I think of that Doors song Summer's Almost Gone, and then I think, "Is that a promise?" Lord give me strength.

Heard from Mark and Sofia today. They are back from their sojourn in the desert and are going to stay somewhere up the coast tonight.

They'll be back in L.A. proper tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon. They'll also be around on Monday. They leave on Tuesday.

I'm thinking Sunday evening, assuming that's the time most of you would be free. Maybe at the Idle Hour pub in North Hollywood? Monday night is also good for me, after work.

I'll probably see them both of these times anyway, so the question is whether you want to join us or not! :)

Sunday is possible, Monday is better for me.

I just checked the weather report. The worst of the dastardly heat is over. On Sunday it will get cloudy by sunrise, then (sing it with me) the skies will be cloudy all day with possible showers in the evening. It will clear up Monday morning, and it stays in the lower 70's all week. And not a moment too soon either!

Sunday afternoon works for me.

I'll be occupied in the first part of the afternoon, probably freeing up around 6. Should we shoot for 7 at the Idle Hour? Of course, Cat and Fiddle is also a good one, since it's open now!

Whatever works for you all, we'll be there. The Mojave Desert was just amazing. I really connected with my inner coyote. It was grievously hot but nothing I haven't experienced in Further Spain, all told.

If we're talking the Idle Hour tonight then Cath and I can be there around 7:30-ish.

I really seriously doubt I can be there tonight but I'll try. Monday, as I say, it's likely.

Anything on tap for tonight? I'm free for the next couple hours at least. Sent Mark a PM but looks like it hasn't been read yet. I'm currently in LA but will have to head back at some point.

In the end it worked out! First I met Mark and Sofia at Amoeba (they just happened to be passing it when we got in touch, and I wasn't far away), followed by a quick drink at the bar at the Cinerama Dome. After that we met in my old neighborhood for Ethiopian food (i had a quick drink and an appetizer then hightailed it as I hadn't been home all weekend, but they're probably still there).

Glad it worked out and really great to meet you both. And note to other potential travelers our way - anyone who's met up with us will tell you we're great hosts. Be encouraged! Come see us!

So nice to meet up with Mark & Sofia. Yet further proof that BCBers are among the nicest folks you'll meet. We had a nice meal, a few drinks and some lovely conversation. And Quaco even showed up in his Noddy Holder drag!

Great to meet you both.
