Well, only four of mine didn't make the top 40 cut:
Massive Attack- Blue Lines (1991): Which I assume most didn't consider "Hip Hop"
Snoop Doggy Dogg- Doggystyle (1993): Thought this might sneak in, but no...
EL-P- Fantastic Damage (2002): Surprised this and/or RTJ didn't get a few votes...
DJ Spooky- Riddim Warfare (1998) Not surprised...
Also surprised these acts didn't make an appearance:
Digital Underground, Death Grips, Flying Lotus, Jungle Brothers, Main Source, Black Sheep, Digable Planets, Gang Starr, Ice T

Yes, absolutely. Gang Starr in particular - i'm gobsmacked that i was rhe ONLY person to give them even a single vote!

Perhaps It Takes A Nation of Millions is an obvious number one, but like Coltrane's A Love Supreme topping jazz polls, it's number one for a reason. It's chaotic, forceful, incendiary and at times ridiculous but it still holds up even after all these years. Shamefully, I forgot to include anything by Gang Starr, but I honestly thought they would get more votes.
I think this list shows that BCB loves its hiphop when it's sample-based, and is particularly partial to the Wu-Tang and their offshoots. Anyway, this has been a lot of fun, thanks for putting this together fange!

It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

I didn't vote, but was interested in what came out of this.
And yes, congratulations on the hard work.
It doesn't surprise me that lots of these albums are older, and some might say from the golden age of hip hop.
Hip hop's a weird album genre. Some artists are into them and some of the best aren't. Nowadays, anyway.
Guys like Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, BoB, Drake, Nicki Minaj, who seem to be into them and then you have groups like Migos who could seem to care less. And there are so many guest spots on songs these days it makes the head spin.
But I'm biased too. I think E-40 could easily have had two or three albums in this list, but maybe he's just too prolific to be seriously considered or tied to the hyphy movement to get widespread respect. And Mac Dre never really made a good whole album.
I am surprised a Kanye album wasn't in the list. Or maybe I missed it.

I couldn't vote for 'Absence' when I think both 'Negro Necro Nekros' and 'From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots' are better.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

I think he's way better producer than MC, but I don't think he's that bad.
