Wow!

This is a tough match and commiserations to the loser!

Stomu made some fantastic albums and this is one of them. A corker of a track selected too

Top notch from the great album Freedom is Frightening

Then Genesis - not an obvious choice but a very good one. Not one of my favourite Genesis albums but this track is a good ‘un

However, there is only one winner and that is the Japanese lad

A is pretty good but again I would have liked it more at half the length - it does meander a bit.

B loses something separated from the context of the story, but it feels very epic but very human at the same time. Also, great vocal performance.

The Stomu Yamash'ta track is quite knotty and hard going on first listen verging on free-form jazz at times, but its intensity was quite compelling and it was full of interesting sounds, twists and turns and a nicely ambient fade out. Worth spending more time with.

I love the Lamb unreservedly and this is a very fine pick from it but today I prefer to vote for something new to me

I appreciated Go and Go To a lot and lost a but of track with Yamashta's following projects. It's busy and dynamic but if misses a bit of bas-relief depth for me.
B is one for the ages...

Lord help me.
I find myself agreeing with Mike in that A is unlistenable tosh. Its honking into a bucket with some twonk learning to play a guitar, overdubbed, and with Animal from the Muppets playing drums.
Then we get to Genesis.
Pretentious whining gobbledegook by Mr Gabriel, check. But, the music itself is rather restrained and tuneful. I find myself nearly enjoying it.
Flip me!

For the cloth-eared that's Hugh Hopper on bass guitar and Gary Boyle on electric guitar....!

I've not played this game before. But this is easy. Not a big Genesis fan to begin with (Trick of the Tail is the one I like the most), and whatever y'all got there must have been on the bottom of the pile. But that Stomu tune is great! Hadn't heard it before. I know on reason why C likes it: it's quite a Zappaesque freak-out. This is not a contest. This is a kind of Mike Tyson vs. Ricardo Spain 40 second knock-out.

The A has it. Firmly

A- Know a bunch of Stomu stuff. Not sure if I've heard this one. tasty tune lots of prog jamming.

B- The brilliant Steve Hackett guitar solo into the Peter and Phil harmony. Last track of side two from my favorite album of all time. Can sing every note. Love what Hackett has done with the song lately.

I don’t like show-offy frantic tuneless jazz. Plenty of talent but very little music in A.

B is one of the best tracks from a masterpiece of an album which I ranked No 4 in my Top 200 albums ever a few months ago.

I truly don't understand why Gabriel/Genesis fan like The Lamb. It's over-ambitious and self-aggrandizing, like most of PG's solo career. The album literally offends me. Like The Who's Quadrophenia, it's the one they shouldn't have done.

Oh great match. A is an extraordinary piece of music. It really seems to capture the essence of what progressive music is about - wonderful musicianship tied to fearless, questing attitude. The band are on fire. B is a great choice too and deserves a win as well.

Never drank deeply from the Genesis well myself, but have veritably washed myself in the jazzier river.
