Re: PC21- Semi Final- Match 2
this is already fucquin impossible, mwhahaha. i aint kiddin.
why has no one ever told me about savage grace? a prog rock band from detroit?? oh, i blame SOMEbody. but not the person who has turned me onto it now. loved it.
and then there's the about-time-for-can-bein-all-wicked-and-wunnerful.
ack.
these are both kickass/arse.
razor close.

I love Can and thesis an interesting choice (rather one of their 'standard' albums)
As you would expect full of music an tons/tonnes of surprises
Awesome
Nice tubs form Jaki
Savage Grace should have done better than they did
Sadly, not much more than a support act.
A nice track and a great match but is the mighty Can for me

A is prime Can that I'm not overfamiliar with.
B manages to add a lot of bombast into a few short minutes without really establishing much of an identity otherwise.

A I’m not a big fan of Can, but this had my foot tapping pop pickers.
B Never heard of them. It was a bit ponderous for me and I didn’t like the singing.

A Can track I've never heard before and while it's not the greatest thing I've heard by them its always welcome to hear something different from them and it had a infectious 60s swing to it.
B initially had a bit of a baroque pop feel before the heavy chorus kicked it which seemed at odds with the verses. Not keen on the vocalist but the guitar solo was good, short and to the point.
Good match but A is one I am far more likely to return to.

Was ready to vote for Can but really enjoyed B, sounding kinda Queenish in the verses, really great stuff.

Liked the growling bass halfway through B and the touch of bombast flowing through this but boy, I love that Lost Tapes-album from Can a lot and it's pretty invincible to me...

Never been a huge Can fan but that is an engaging piece of music. Not feeling B much.

A- wasn't aware of the lost tapes album - have to listen to the other tracks. Very nice Can tune lots of twists and turn.
B- Nice music and some nice tasty guitar at the end. Not a fan of the singer although actually not that bad.

So, we get to the nub. It was only a matter of time this cup would turn into a Krautrock/Motorik circle jerk and it starts here.
Its up against an overblown, pompous, homage to Todd and Meatloaf by the sounds of it. I like it!

A is fabulous, the title melody for a visionary German TV film from 1970, adapted from a short story by Robert Sheckley which anticipated the advent of reality TV. One of many interesting old tracks on Can's "Lost Tapes" sampler.
B is nice, but of little consequence

Re: PC21- Semi Final- Match 2
Can - well I’d rather the tapes hadn’t been found to be honest. Bottom rung stuff. Did nothing for me but then I like tunes, not just notes. Sounds like a mood piece for some shite 70s US cop show.
Never heard of Savage Grace, rather liked them.

Same here, really. B is ok in its way, but A is great.

Probably about forty five years ago I'd have prevered Savage Grace with their more rockest leanings, but nowadays the zanier Can do much more for me.
