Post-psych vs. English Pastoral again. Cool!

A is not terribly soothing. Impressive guitaring, but no warmth. He's showing us what he can do rather than inviting us in.

B isn't exacting overly subtle either, but it kept me quite a bit more engaged. Also told me something I didn't know - Michael Gregory - later of the Albion Band, then Home Service - was the drummer.

A has great gweetar and tone.

B has many more elements that are kathish, the instrumentation, the sound. i get the feeling i should get into it more than i do, though. not sure the whole is better than the parts a b c or d, but there is still much more for me in this one.

Clark-Hutchinson are definitely my thing.

Eye-balls out. I like a bit of eye balls out me.

They made three albums and this fine track's from the second - Retribution

They had started to mellow a bit by then and this track indicates that - which is fine - tighter with more control.

Their debut album A=MH2 is my fave but the other two are very robust also.

Anyway, nice guitar and great vocals!!

Fuchsia always remind me of Comus and I'm not a big fan of them.

Still, this track is pleasant enough with some interesting stuff but also with Comus-esque stuff that irritates me - like the vocals and some of the guitar work and screechy fiddle.

The strings were not to my liking.

The whole track just engage me. Sorry

No - still not for me 50 plus years later. Perhaps one day it'll click

I'm a patient man.

Another easy one

Interesting match, similar time slot and I'm familiar with both.

The things you remember: I bought Retribution ca. 1975 in a little shop in Interlaken. It was a 3 LPs for 10 francs deal (when full-price albums cost more than 20), the second album was Lick My Decals Off Baby and... I've got no memory whatsoever of what the third one was.

No easy fare for the harmony-loving Beatles and Genesis fan I was.

With hindsight, Beefheart towers sky-high over Clark Hutchinson. As I recall, this is the only actual song on an album of pure primal stoned riffage which I haven't listened to for at least 25 years (at the time, the lyrics to "Free To Be Stoned" really spoke to me, but that's another story). Now I'm baffled by how much Clark sounds like Nick Cave at times, and still see Hutchinson as a competent and sometimes inspired guitar player, but that's about it.

As I've said before, I'm a sucker for violins and cellos in rock, but I only discovered Fuchsia when it was a Buried Treasure in Mojo (2005), back when we religiously sought and shared them month after month. And I still really love it.

A rocks. B is generic, dull folk music. I heard this type of thing a thousand times, in this cup probably, and it still grates.

A didn't really excite me much, it was somewhat lumpen and seem to last much longer than it actually was.

I found B altogether more engaging although I wasn't too enamoured of the vocalist who was a bit flat.

Thought the vocals let both songs down a tad.

Expected to enjoy Fuschia a lot more than I did, being more into folk and jazz than pure rock, so to my surprise the energy of Clark-Hutchinson won out.

A was solid. Nothing more, nothing less.

B just drifted off for me.

Didn’t go much on the vocals on either track. Both sounded on the verge of flatness.

That said I quite enjoyed both.

A’s guitar clinches it for me.

(Didn’t hear much folkiness in Fuschia myself.)
