Hooray for brevity! I'll take the shorter of the two.

Wow, two really strong, concise songs, ruined by annoying singers.

A is less annoying, but B rocks! Certainly one of my favorite Rush songs I've ever heard. Geddy can't quite ruin it with his baying. And it's nice to be reminded that these guys play very well together even when stripped down.

Part of it is Lifeson really wails on the thing! The rhythm section plays it very simple and mostly stays out of the way. I have to say I would truly love this as an instrumental (the lyrics are stoopid too). But even so I think this might be Discovery of the Cup for me so far. I have my suspicions about who picked it, I must say. Let's see if I'm right.

A - progressive metal with hints of Stravinsky and Zappa. What's not to like?

The early Rush track owes more to their hard rock Led Zep influenced roots.

A reminded me of a Toe Fat cover/sleeve - which isn't a bad thing 'cos it's very robust.

What are we watching on A...? It appears to be a bloke drumming along to a track. Lots of plain black screens. Disconcerting.

The Rush track was nice with the usual ingredients

A has a System of a Down strong vibe. The drumming is excellent. B is from my favourite Rush period but there are much better choices to be had on that particular album.
It has to be A.

Never been keen on the kind of Prog Metal of A with shouty singers and operatic aspirations. It proved too much for my aging and sensitive ears and I struggled to get to the end.

B is from before Rush get really interesting and progressive and those first few albums don't really do a lot for me. The drumming is impeccable as always and the highlight of both this track and this match.

Sorry, A is not for me at all.
B has awful singing but great guitar.

The Gabriel Construct ended up being too dense a sound for my taste.

now see, i *can* be quite keen on the kinda prog metal of A with shouty singers and operatic aspirations, but i hafta admit it was a bit too much for me this evening as well. JJ described it as "dense" ... maybe that's it. too much goin on all around for my ears to truly grab onto it. soundin sorta clashy. even with that, it's a cool, original pick. gets credit for that.

i'll take rush. cuz, well, i love rush.

A- annoying vocals at first but sort of grew on me. I loved the ending jam.

B- Never got the love for Rush. The whole band sort of annoys me. Vocals are the worst part but honestly I always feel like this band is playing against each other instead of with each other. Great players some nice drumming and great guitar work but it doesn't mix well.

A has some Van Der Graaf stuff going on.

The Rush track is actually one of their less proggy tracks.

That's just a stoopid riff with Geddy Lee getting castrated.... arghhh

A is extremely dense and overwrought, but I enjoyed it a lot (especially the operatic System of A Down element, as noted).

A was interesting but not particularly enjoyable.

B was decent enough.
