There's sure been a lot of post-psych in this alleged prog cup (not that I'm complaining)!

A definitely excites me more of the two here; Vangelis is occasionally good for a nice passage, but there's not much to hang my hat(z) on for this particular 8 minutes plus.

A - very good post psyche track. What else would a Danish band sound like in 1970?

The trouble with Vangelis, as good as his music is, you know exactly what you are going to hear before you even start listening.

A grooves along nicely and i like the harmonies in the chorus, more progressive than prog maybe.

A nice laid back atmospheric piece from Vangelis though.

Bit of an odd Vangelis-pick.... Spiral has better tracks to choose from. I do like the Toots Thielemans-like solo in the middle and at the end and the film noir-kind of atmosphere.
A was a nice slice of Tullian goodness but I will bow to the master here.

Whilst I'm listening to Culpeper’s Orchard I'll write something about Vangelis.

Spiral is a great album and my second fave after Albedo 0.39 both albums I know backwards

Ok, Culpeper’s Orchard - I see they are a Danish band fronted by Englishman Cy Nicklin - the foursome produced three albums in the early 70's.

Interesting.

I am enjoying it very much.

The Vangelis selection was an interesting one. If I can be so bold I can't see it enticing non-Vangelis fans or unfamiliar folk. I would have gone for something with a little bit more oomph to attract from the outside.

I anticipate the word 'dreary' being used. Of course those folk have cloth ears and I may be wrong.

Notwithstanding I'm going with the Danish mob led by a good old English geezer

Crikey, the screaming in A would not be out of place on a Sonics record. Bravo!
What is the point of B? It doesn't do anything.

ya know, i find myself just sittin back with the phones and enjoying these match-ups, cuz they are really, really good.

i was listenin to the incredibly groovy, trippy A, so sure i was gonna vote for it. stellar pick.

and then i got into B. it hit me just right. who knows why. maybe the storms landing right now have put me in that kinda mood. (i have a window three feet behind me cracked open a few inches, and i just felt some rain on my back. nope, not shuttin the window, mwhaha. ohhh, and let's not place bets on how long my internet holds out.)

i love the prog cup, part 579.

Loved A's psyche energy and a real obscure gem.
B is an odd Vangelis choice but I do love this rather understated track in the context of the album surrounded by more upbeat spacey stuff.

another very close match but I'm a sucker for this era of Vangelis and can't resist B

Good match! I like A and that style of psych progressive rock, but B is intriguing and despite being outside my usual comfort zone is hitting the spot. So...

Quite like a spot of Vangelis, this song didn't resonate with me though.

Culpeper's Orchard - what a blast!

Easy A

Thank you whoever brought CO to my attention, want to listen to the rest of the album Teaparty was taken from.

I adore Vangelis, but he leads with his chin here, and his particular glass jaw is his choice of vocalists (Jon Anderson gets a pass on that btw).

Culpeper's Orchard are just sublime - perfect blend of psych and early prog.

What a joy to still get to hear 70s stuff of such quality for the first time in 2021!!

A is all kinds of wonderful.

Never come across Culpeper’s Orchard before.

Really liked it. Off to load up on Spotify...

Van Gelis is a bit of an Emperor’s new clothes artist for me.

Big A.
