Ooh, this is gonna split opinions here, I bet!

Both are in the 'admire more than like' category for me. Both go on a bit (though I did dutifully listen to both in their entirety). But one's got outsider status and one is pretty much 'in the canon'.

The bottom line for A is it's not something I'd ever choose to listen to for pleasure.

The bottom line for B is it's a bit unchallenging as a pick (plus I'm not anywhere near as enamored of Fripp as most of the prog goons here seem to be).

I'll give this some thought and maybe see how the vote goes (and enjoy the inevitable controversy). Wish I could vote against both.

I am intrigued that Fucked Up got away with a name like that or am I being old fashioned.

I see of the letters often starred out - F**ked Up or something...?

Anyway, the music, I really enjoyed it - I love. bit of noise me.

The music was really good often with the bouncebouncebounce factor

A really hypnotic riff! Love it

The growling 'hardcore' (?) vocals were a delight

Wow! There's a nice twist around the 9 minute mark - a change of vocals and. more delicate voice and tune - very clever!!

Yes - robust stuff. I will investigate further

Fripp/Gabriel I know this.

I'm not sure this type of Frippertronics and the juxtaposition of Gabriel almost as two entities works too well.

It's almost - you do your bit and I'll do mine and we'll weld them together

No.

Give me:

ugh another two I love.

A. First time I saw Fucked Up was at ATP Kutchers in 2010 their set killed it. I saw their whole show a few years later in Brooklyn. Love this track although long most of their stuff jams.

B. A jem and I've seen this video a few days ago on the Gabriel page on Facebook. Love the mix of Frippertronics and Gabriel. Beautiful

Hate to Vote against Fucked Up but see the same thing happening to my songs.

That's the spirit, hatzy!

Well, i really enjoyed both of these, finally. A is a band i've never knowingly heard, B is an old fave. As noted, i will give extra credit to the surprise and novelty factor where it works well, and A has given me a good discovery to delve further with.

Fucked Up have really fucked up. Much better as a hardcore punk entity. This is just a big snore fest from start to finish.
I like Fripp and Gabriel but they are not a marriage made in heaven, more like made in a shed in Dorset.
I'm going for A for past glories and forgiving them for this gubbins.

i dunno... it's weird, my reaction, mwhaha. (me? weird??)

i agree with mr. jung that the growly vocals just kinda hit me from nowhere. i was so diggin the gweetarage that it seemed out of context, even with my occasional metallic proclivities. i blame myself for that. don't know the band, maybe should've expected it with the whole fucqued up thing. i adapted pretty quickly, though. i truly love the gweetarage and how it goes along.

meanwhile, i hafta be honest: B just hasn't aged all that well for me, and i used to love it. as a kinda cool, mood atmo thing. i relistened to it twice. i love gabriel, i love the frippster, but this is so minimal to me i feel.. what's a good word? underwhelmed. let's go with that. (again, i blame myself, so nuthin personal, picker.) now? i get bored. although i really, really wanna go swimming.

don't mind me.

so.

Alright! I don't mind the crossover.of FU, don't play this type of progressive that often (I love Isis though with albums like Panopticon) . This has got some great elements in it, the guitarsound and when the Claire Grogan-soundalike comes in....

B is like an old friend really. Favourite version of the song too. But you know what?

What a weird band name, it's like auto-sabotage...!
I easily made it all the way through A and really enjoyed it a lot... didn't mind the growling vocals at all, surprisingly!

I was ready to vote for it, but got swept away once again by the majestic beauty of the stripped-down version of HCTF.
I can do without the Frippertronics at the end (it's a different track on the album I think) but from J.G. Bennett's lecture to the last piano note... MASTERPIECE!

I thought the same. Terrible name though, like they were deliberately trying to sound edgy and controversial.
Like neil jung I was enjoying it until the growling which is always an immediate turn off for me. Shame as musically it was fine if lacking in enough ideas to warrant its 15 minute length.

The combination of frippertronics and Gabriel's solo piano version of Here Comes the Flood worked well for me and provided atmosphere to go with the visuals.

Having hated growling vocals forever, I can’t believe how much I love A - it’s a thing of ferocious beauty.

B is the version from Robert Fripp's solo album Exposure.

After some deliberation I came to the conclusion that what I really like from my prog is a sense of playfulness. There is of course plenty of it to be found elsewhere in this round (though based on the vote, most don't share my opinion on that).

In any case, both of these are pretty straight-faced, though of the two A gives me more of what I need.

The "calm down, Thor, mommy's bringing your breakfast" voice is a lot to get through, but I can just manage.
