Trader Horne - an interesting band who I saw back in the day- former Fairport Convention lead vocalist Judy Dyble and ex-Them keyboard player Jackie McAuley

They never really grabbed me - not very strong songs.

Mick Softley a contemporary of Donovan et alia and generally robust stuff

He kept my attention more than TH - it was pleasant but not a great track selection to my ears - I can think of umpteen better

But, B has it

B has it

Boy, there's sure been a lot of fey semi-psych in this cup!! So far my favorite's a Canadian.

B is a bit more compelling, though neither particularly makes me clutch my love beads.

Funny that A should pick the one track off Morning Glory I actively dislike...

The Softley track is pretty standard fare (I prefer his third album Sunrise) but B it is.

I liked A well enough (I actually thought they were singing "the mists of time" until I saw the title) but B's cool laid back sunny vibe kind of won me over.

A is a bit too earnest and B is a bit too loose. Since I do like Judy Dyble a lot it's

Probably my own stupidity for not picking the sublime title track to Trader Horne's Morning Way album, which is a genuine euphoric blast of wonderful sunshine and joy. But my self-imposed rule of not picking the obvious track meant that I went for this instead. It's not as good, but I still like it a lot. Yeah, there's a hint of school-marmishness about Judy's performance, but there's still something laid back about it, and something quite beautiful about the simple chorus.

I don't like B that much at all, I have to say. The opening line wound me up in its crapulence, and just as you think it might develop into an actual nice Donovan-esque folk track it throws that triangle and warbly guitar in your face. Sorry, but there's only about 20 seconds I like of this, that intermediate post-opening-line pre-warble bit.

A: New to me also. Reminds me of something else that I can't figure out. Enjoyable. I'll return to explore more of this.
B: OOooooo. Nice. That tremeloee bit got me. The yabba dabba at the end is bumb, but still

Apart from the guitar, B didn't do it for me. A was nicer.

Not the Softley track I'd have chosen, but I had him on my list in the increasingly unlikely event I'd need more for a semi final. Anyway A was merely pleasant.

I'm just hoping that as soon as it's obvious a track is mine, the sheer love and respect of my peers will win me a few extra votes.

I have to say, it's a winning tactic so far... ;-)
