No thanks.

:D Fred fucking nails it!! :D

BTW - I find my self agreeing with Copehead frequently on this thread. Does this mean that I am insane, or is it just the fact that I've been either raging drunk or damn near my entire time in Italy? Munich is only going to be worse...I may even vote against my own list - which should include polkas by then.

It's a dilemma, we want as many people as possible to participate so it doesn't descend into a little ingroup thing, but the more people who participate the more unwieldy it becomes.

The only way I can see around this is, and bare with me this may be a bit unpopular, is to make it even longer but less intense.

Just a list or two a week to allow people to have a proper listen. It would run for most of the year a bit like the FA Cup, and we would build up to a big final.

At the moment people are exhausted by the final and no one really gives a toss who wins they are just glad the pain has stopped.

Sounds like a nice idea but the cup would ideally be short, sharp and sweet. I mean it takes 40 tracks to win and that's just too much. About 25 would be ideal but there's no way we can do that now so it drags a bit imo. Hope the voting is up for later rounds.

I was thinking (uh-oh) about this the other day....what about starting out with a list of 5 instead of ten? Then the final lists wouldn't be quite as....cumbersome. Just a thought.

I totally agree, but that seems incompatable with getting as many people as possible to participate.

There appears to be 2 main options

Status Quo

Extend the Cup.

I'f I had put Roadhouse Blues by the Quo on my cover versions list I may have won my round :)

Who's this Special Sauce character? Seems a bit suss a newbie signing up and just voting in the cup and not posting anywhere else.

Yeah, I know. Initially he or she tried to vote before getting approved, and I discounted those votes as this was not yet a full member of the board. Since approval, I have accepted the votes from Special Sauce in good faith, but I'm well aware that this could be an alias - but I don't really want to believe someone would be desperate enough to create an alias just to skew the voting in the BCB Cup.

Whatever, the truth, it would be nice if this Special Sauce character could introduce themselves to the board properly.

Slightly different in that KP has at least signed up for the tournament and submitted a list.
