A has a couple of nice choices but on the whole isn't my pair of shoes. B is consistently pretty good, but needs to really catch fire: its occasional really great choices are also its most familiar, tried-and-tested ones.

Oof! This one's an absolute landslide: A 21 , B 50. I thought it would be a lot closer, but it looks like Girls Aloud were a definite vote loser.

Anyway, A was Diamond Dog. Bad luck, Pete.

I wonder how many of you saynayers actually took the time to listen to that track? I mean, I know it's Girls Aloud, and I'm sure some of the intelligensia would feel a bit grubby letting such grime into their homes, but - please- just try it. It's a wonderful piece of pop fluff - and, you know what, it's a huge relaxation from the Deerhoof's and Airborne Toxic Waste's of your miserable worlds. Why, it may actually make you smile and even trill along..............of course, Martha, you may have already listened to it. In which case, this isn't aimed at you. But I will guarantee that some confessing to actively dislike the track haven't bothered to listen to it, because it is somehow beneath their sensibilities. Your loss, not mine.

given your staunch defense, peter, i've just done so. i wish i hadn't.

absolute hackneyed pop. one can only imagine that having teenage daughters has corroded your resistance to this type of banal tedious dreck. it's not even good in an ironic sense.

it stands out like a sore thumb, in what is otherwise a fairly decent list. you gambled on a kitsch song in the hope that BCB would see your choice as being that of someone with his finger on the pulse of youth today. the result speaks for itself. you were the architect of your own downfall. live with it.

So you hadn't listened to it before you voted. I rest my case.

And, of course, you are utterly wrong in what you say, but I really don't think that should be any great surprise to either you, me or anyone else - it's par for the course.
