Great English director of some classic films. RIP.
Music was obviously important to him - Bugsy Malone, Fame, The Wall, The Commitments and Evita all among his top films.

Re: Alan Parker RIP
Buggy Malone.... Angel Heart.... The Commitments...Mississippi Burning... Midnight Express....
Incredibly versatile director who mastered every genre he worked in.
Racking my brains and I can’t think of one bad film.

Re: Alan Parker RIP
AP famously got his start in the mail room of an ad agency.
When I was starting out in the business in the late 70s, someone who used to work with him told me
how AP blagged his first job.
Apparently AP was invited into a big London agency of the 60s for an interview as either a copywriter or art director.
After watching two or three commercials on AP's showreel, the agency creative director scoffed: "There's no way you made
these commercials, mate, they're all award winners from Cannes, D&AD, etc."
To which AP replied, "You're right, I didn't make them. But if you give me a job these are the sort of commercials
I'll be making for you."
AP got hired on the spot and the rest as they say is history.
