Gimmicky new-wave shite.

It's just you, me, Griff and Owen I think.

Ah, good! I'm in good company, then.

They bore me too!

And me! Although I suspect he did know that and just kept it quiet.

Great band. All you naysayers have cloth ears.

Album: Oranges and Lemons, closely followed by Nonsuch
Track: Across This Antheap, closely followed by too many to mention

They are a great band. I can't really understand the naysayers. Sure there are periods of their work that even I a fan find boring, Oranges & lemons and Nonsuch mainly, but there has been enough variety over their career that everybody, whatever their musical taste, should be able to find plenty to love.

Favourire album - I can't separate Drums & Wires and Skylarking
Favourite track - Complicated Game

I'm unusual in that I think their mid-80s work is the best. There's so much variety and experimentation in "Mummer", "The Big Express" and "Skylarking" that the 'skinny-tie new wave' stereotype that the XTC-skeptics refer to is totally redundant. Freed from the shackles of having to reproduce their records in a live environment, they developed something unique. Indeed, I think that "Apple Venus" was a return to that spirit.

Great band, although actually their early stuff I find a little too generic. I struggle to listen to all of "White Music", "Go2" and even "Drums & Wires". "Black Sea" is better, and about half of "English Settlement" is even better than that.

Best album: "Skylarking". It's in my alltime top 20.
Best song: "River of Orchids". Or "The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul". Or "Jason And The Argonauts". Or...or...or...

Andy's voice is hard going, and I know how much that puts people off.

Favorite album: Skylarking/Black Sea

Favorite track: "Another Satellite"/"Senses Working Overtime' (Mandy Moore version)

Favourite Album: Skylarking with Dear God programmed out if it as it was never intended as part of this cycle of songs, followed by Nonsuch and English Settlement, or the Dukes 'Chips From The Chocolate Fireball' (a compilation I know)

Song: that's hard, I do like Wrapped In Grey (Brian Wilson influence?), or Jason & The Argonauts, My Bird Performs, The Disappointed, Mayor Of Simpleton, Holly Up On Poppy (a wonderful ode to Andy's daughter), The Meeting Place - it's hard to stop

It's impossible to decide

Favorite song is Punch and Judy, the version from the box set though which is superior to the b-side version that later appeared on Rag and Bone Buffet.

Favourite album is Skylarking.
