Board upgrade this Saturday morning.

Postby JQW » 04 Nov 2014, 10:37

I plan to get this site upgraded to phpBB 3.1 sometime on Saturday morning UK time.

I've located phpBB 3.1 compatible versions of all of our relevant styles. I've also acquired the beta version of the Tapatalk plugin.

I can't see the site being down too long as the upgrade process is essentially little more than moving some files around, plus a few database changes. However given that problems can happen, assume that we could be down for several hours.

Cool. Hope it brings up the necessary improvements you want. Hope it fixes up the spam filter :)

All being well I hope to start on this upgrade sometime around 8 to 9 am UK time.

The actual installation and upgrade process doesn't take too long, so I hope to get at least a basic site with one functioning style up and running within a few minutes. Tweaking the site and adding new styles could take longer, but many of these tweaks can be performed with the site running.

I will attempt to preserve the old SubSilver style if I can. There is a version included in the 3.1 distribution, but I've no idea if it supports mobile devices.

Up and running again, with a few minor issues.

The main one is determining where the option to change the site logo has gone to - it's not where it was.

The option to change style, if possible, is it there? Looking for some kind of landscape layout rather than this phone-friendly portrait thing.

And where are 'active topics' and 'your posts'? Edit - cancel, found them

The option to change the board style is in your user control panel. I'll be adding more styles throughout the day.

Managed to change the style- aero black, no less.

Still looks like the old default logged-out setting but I guess that if this is it I'll get used to it.

Cheers, it's just appeared. Pleased to see that the subsilver now resizes pictures automatically to fit, rahter than letting them bleed off the screen.

Cheers Jethro looking good.
Does anyone know which setting puts the posters on the left as you read the posts (if that makes sense). Cheers.

Ah, yes. I can get the individual forums - Yackety Yack, Nextdoorland etc to load but the Timeline option doesn't show any posts.

It does seem a little tempramental. I'll look into it further.
