I've just watched the Sky Sports "AJ: The Untold Truth" hour long special.

Very enlightening - I think it's fair to say Joshua has completely lost his love for the sport of boxing. He likes the passport it gives him to do the other things in his life he wants (setting up a foundation/charity for one) but he has clearly no love of the fight game itself anymore. I was sitting there thinking "This guy might well retire after the Ruiz fight, win or lose". Ad then he actually said exactly that.

Boxing isn't a sport you can do if you don;t really want to - at least, and not be as successful as you were when you were hungry and needed it. Joshua doesn't need it - he has made enough money...for himself and his family. He said so. If you read between the lines, the only reason he is continuing is because he is embarrassed that Ruiz beat him and wants to settle that score. He knows he's been frozen out of the Fury/Wilder debate for at least 18 months, so he isn't even thinking about them as a realistic possibility. He says he only wants to fight the top guys so... after Ruiz, even if he wins, who else? No one, especially with White's drug fiasco ruling him out of the frame.

In my eyes, going to Dubai to fight Ruiz is a huge mistake. Nothing I saw suggests he really wants the fight - indeed, I think he sounded like a man that has already retired in his eyes (after the Ruiz fight). That's a very dangerous state of mind to be in. I can't see any other result besides another Ruiz victory.

Oh dear, that’s interesting and a little disturbing.

Still, although the next step seems unwise it kinda sounds like he’s got his head screwed on.

Watch it and see if you feel the same way?

There's also some really interesting things about his entourage (I couldn't believe the size of that!) and his preparation and state of mind for the Ruiz fight. There was clearly something amiss and I'm not convinced there still isn't.

And what's all this focus group nonsense about the "military machine" and all that guff?! And the reference throughout to "We did" "We will" "We felt" etc etc - Anthony, when that bell goes, it's only you my old son. "We" doesn't count for much in the ring.

I've already said Ruiz will win the rematch.

But those who are a little bit challenged :

Like he was in great shape for the first one?

But thanks for passing on your inside info.

He was ill prepared and over confident. He'll be exactly the same for this one too. He doesn't want to fight - look at the video. It's clear for all to see. Ruiz will do exactly what he did last time and the result will be the same.

Never afraid to back my opinions up.

You'll probably be barred again by then (probably twice over) because you can't help yourself, so I'm not too worried.

Your knowledge of boxing is pretty much the same as your football.

Nothing happened much after 1966, when 'West Ham' won the World Cup and Our 'Enry was cheated out of beating 'Cassius Clay'.

No one complains about you to Jethro. No one ever did.

In the end he just sees some cunt causing a commotion over here and fucks them off out.

You do it better (and more often) than most. You know the score.

Oh yeah. Everton had been hugely successful these past three decades.

I think Joshua has probably sharpened up everything he does and see no reason why he can’t keep clear of Ruiz’s bombs and dominate for longer than he did in the 1st fight and give him a proper beating this time.

But that’s probably wishful thinking to an extent.

Joshua in 8.

Ruiz by KO. Again. I'd like to think AJ can do it but he holds his guard too high and will get tagged by the body, left hook combination. Again.

Yep...I think Ruiz will knock him out again. Probably between 5-7 (again). Nothing I saw in the first fight convinced me Joshua could handle Ruiz's hand speed and combination shots and nothing I've seen or heard since makes me believe he can do it now. He didn't just get beat, he got beaten up. And he quit too. I also detect a fear in Joshua that he knows it too. As I said after that Sky TV special I alluded to earlier on this thread, I think Joshua has completely lost his love for the game and fighting isn't something you can do half hearted and with one eye on the exit door.

If Joshua is going to win, it's by knockout. No way does he win on the scorecards. And I honestly don't see him avoiding Ruiz for 12 rounds.
