A colleague is looking for a song that she used to dance to (so it's not Len) in a club in 1980. Up-tempo.
Any ideas?

That's 1989. She's sure it was 1980.

Well that's what I suggested after a bit of googling but that's a ballad apparently. She says it wasn't a hit record but a great track to dance to.

Toots and The Maytals released a live album in 1980 that included the song "Hallelujah" but I doubt it was that - depends what sort of club she went to I guess....

This probably ain't it, but 'It's Raining Men' is from '82 and they sing 'Hallelujah' a lot in that song.

'Hallelujah Freedom' by Junior Campbell was released in 1973.....maybe it was played in that club in 1980?

Thanks for the replies. This person really knows her music so I've been able to rule out all the obvious suggestions. She says she only ever heard it in that one club but it was a tiny club in a pub in a small East coast Scottish town so it's not like it was an exclusive DJ mix or anything.

That's great stuff! Corny, cheesy, crap etc. but great nonetheless!
