Well I played my first a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of lovely people who call themselves the Camden Blues Collective. I did a passable solo on the thrill is gone. My solo on you can't judge a book by its cover was less passable, but I was confused by the singer ad libbing over it. I was playing a stratocaster.

I am putting together my own little set of covers.
It goes like this:

Sit Down
The Model
Born in the USA
Country Honk
No Scrubs

Encore - Shake it off.

I can't believe I missed all this. This is great! I'm well chuffed for you.
My own progress goes in fits and starts - when I'm taking lessons I get organised and write a lot of songs and practice a lot and really focus on playing live shows. When I am not in class, I just find my attention turns to books and other things. Moving house dented my progress massively.
We were at an awards show the other night and the woman who won Austin's best guitarist only started playing eight years ago. Eight years! I was shamefaced. But, I don't know where people find the time.
I've met a couple of people recently who are interested in doing some more live stuff and co writing and recording. I'll see if that pans out. I have taken the plunge and bought a way fancier acoustic recently, I should try and do it some justice.
Anyway, I am really happy for you. that's great.

I am finding now that I want to practise all the time. I try and dosome exercises in the morning before heading of to school, and then practise bits of songs in the evening. I dropped the thought to my wife yesterday that I need three more guitars and she didn't blink an eye.

Played my best gig so far at the weekend. Simple as they are, my solos actually went off quite well.

Hurray!

I’m having a jam on Sun with some friends with stuff we have all recently written. Looking forward to it.

I have written two songs now. I think they need polishing, though, and one may need a middle eight.

I have now written about 6 songs and several halves!
I debuted a couple of them in another zoom gig for my mates - "Live from Plymouth Hoe".
They went down alright, though it was my cover of Heroes that got the ...er....'crowd' ... going.

Well next week I’ll be doing another zoom gig for my mates - one of them lives in Australia now so zoom is the way.
Anyway I will offer a choice of sets - pre-1963 and post-1973. We will see what they pick.
