To round it off, some pictures taken on spare cameras because numbers one and two had failed

And that's that for the unlamented 2020. Have taken far fewer pics this month than usual, but am using the umpteenth lockdown to finally get around to scanning in a few thousand slides from the late ’80s to 2010 or so, giving a different look to these posts

Re: Ray's Photos
As I was saying above, January was an unfecund time for photos, not only because my two best cameras had given up the ghost and that there wasn't much I found worth looking at , but also because the annually increasing severity of my Raynaud's Phenomenon makes the whole thought of removing my gloves to manipulate a small piece of cold metal for just a few seconds decidedly unpalatable.
And while it takes a few seconds to tweak each digital image into the shape I want, scanning in, then cleaning up, 30-year-old transparencies takes upwards of five minutes per picture on average, so a long process. So here I am for just the second time this year, starting with a few from January.
Reprieved
Scrap was due to go into the vet's for a major operation on 5 January to repair a damaged cruciate ligament that he has been carrying since puppyhood, and which he aggravated last May. And then in came another lockdown the day before and the whole thing was postponed sine die

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Three
That's enough chilly January for now. I discovered nearly 400 slides from approx June-November 1989 in a box, but unfortunately at some point they had been spilled and mixed, so the time and place bop about for a bit, making narrative coherence difficult. There was a lot was going on. sometime in there I left the flat in Carlton Mansions, Cricklewood, NW London, where I had been living for 12 years, the last couple on my own, to stay above a friend's shop in Belsize Road, Kilburn ( the flat was sold to said friend's nieces and their partners, which was a handy arrangement). Chip, whom I'd married the year before, was living in Mangotsfield, East Bristol, with Sally, a Jack Russel/whippet cross. We did not set up home together until shortly before Xmas the following year. I was working one or two days a week in-house at Marshall Cavendish in Wardour Street, Soho, sub-editing a partwork on antiques called Times Past.
Sweet Peas
Grown by Chip by the cordon method in her garden at Mangotsfield, picking every other day.
One issue of Times Past featured an article I wrote on juke boxes, and a photo session was set up with a dealer in Willesden, just a short bus ride from the Mansions. I went along to direct the shoot, and took my camera with me-
Rock-Ola
I wondered what a 1930s juke-box had to do with Rock and Roll, but Rockola was the name of the company's founding family, who were Czechs iirc.
Tower of Song
The Singing Towers juke was as tall as me
Pout
In a yard outside, the dealer had a life-size fibre-glass statue of Marilyn. And why not?
Updraught

Coming back from Willesden on the top deck of a bus. The Mansions can just be glimpsed through the trees in the centre of the picture

Part Four
War Wound
The only picture I have of my Swiss Army knife, stolen just a week or two after I bought it
Sunset Gothic
Flaked
Phil the Prof enjoying the facilities at the Mansions
Tosca
Elderly but engaging fleabag owned by my sister-in-law, Kiki
Another thing that was happening about this time was that I was traveling to Putney once a week for a regular health appointment. East Putney tube station was closer, but the walk was dull, so I would get off at Putney Bridge and cross the Thames on a footpath attached to the railway bridge. The
stanchions of the barrier between the walkway and the trains was smothered in several layers of grafitti, and I took to taking pictures of it using various close-up lenses to abstract them. I took loads of these over a two-year period, so get used to them...

Meanwhile, back in the representational zone
Serenity
No idea whose window
Red Line Fever
Remember that I would later in the year move in above a friend's shop? They sold bespoke designer radiators from Switzerland.
Pub Lunch
The magic of the interwebz tells me this is Sutton Berenger, near Chippenham. Sallywags, Chip, and her neighbour in Mangotsfield, Telstar (Terry, actually, but he was a star). In lieu of a living parent, he 'gave away' Chip at our wedding. Lovely man
Full Pelt
With her whippet ancestry, Sal could really shift. Lovely mover
Explosion in a Fur Factory
Tallullah and I shared a birthday, and although she always lived with Chip, She was generally considered my cat.

Thanks Kath. I'm going to use this opportunity to repeat something I said close to the beginning of this thread. If anyone wants to download any of these photos for their own creative purposes, have at it. The reason I took them in the first place was to scratch some creative itches of my own, and the reason I put them up on the interwebz is that, as an anarcho-commie hippie snowflake vegetarian libtard I like to share. What else am I going to do with them?
