When they closed down the best live music venue in Austin in 1999, they did it by playing Gloria for 24 hours. Here's a nice 12 minutes about it from Wild Seed Michael Hall.

I'm putting together my Black Friday radio programming and at this time of year, I always come back to Karen Dalton's version of this Richard Manuel number. I love it.

It's one of my very very favorite Band songs, and if forced to choose between the two versions I'd have to go with theirs... but yeah, Karen's is a gem, too.
