Who is This?

Postby 50 Shades Of Blue » 02 Aug 2022, 01:22

Guy tried to tell me the guy playing sax in the photo is Coleman Hawkins but it's not him, the photo looks 70's and Hawkins died in 69.
He then suggested Ornette Coleman but I don't think it is him either.
Can anyone identify the man in the photo?

When I clicked on the picture (hoping to see a larger version) I got a message saying "You must be logged in to do this." As it is I can only see the thumbnail, so it's hard to tell.

Thanks, can't think how to post it here even after downloading it.
Will try a few things later today.

Turns out it is Illinois Jacquet who played the famous solo in "Flying Home" when in Lionel Hampton's band in 1942.
He joined Cab Calloway's big band after that and then the Count Basie Orchestra
