I mean they must have been pretty happy when they got that one in the can. "I think this'll do as the album opener." :) Revolver-like — but maybe better??

It is fabulous.

One tends to think of things like Revolver, Something Else, and Village Green as being master classes in expanded-mind yet concise songwriting. I think Younger Than Yesterday is right up there. Other Byrds albums too, but they are more hit and miss and/or more in the "early" vein (mind not quite as expanded).

I think the board consensus is with you. YTY is definitely great.

"The World Turns All Around Her" - current Byrds jam.
"Turn Turn Turn" is a fine album, Gene Clark was certainly in a great songwriting groove. Is there a vocal version of Stranger in a Strange Land ?

Was just playing a selection from it yesterday (opening with "The World...").

Yeah, the Blackburn & Snow version was released as a 45 at the time, and is a great song. As far as I know, the Byrds never recorded a vocal to that track. Or if they did I haven't heard it.

Wow, Cheers Charlie, had never heard that, apparently Blackburn co-wrote Hey Hey My My(Out of the Blue) and was a member of the Ducks!

As I understand it, the line It's better to burn out than to fade away was in one of his songs, and Neil liked it enough to write a new song around it and give him a co-credit.
