RIP Judy Henske

Postby Purgatory Brite » 15 May 2022, 10:13

The singer once dubbed “The Queen of the Beatniks” by the music producer Jack Nitzsche has left us aged 85.

She is probably best known, on BCB at least, for the cult psychedelia album Farewell Aldebran that she made with Jerry Yester.

I have to admit that I was not previously aware of her version of the song High Flying Bird. An influence on Jefferson Airplane I believe.

Got that Farewell Aldebaran album you mentioned, quite nice. Farewell Judy.

The only recording by her that I'd ever heard. And the only version of High Flying Bird I've ever heard!
It's good.
Bugger off.
