Tragic band, never got the breaks they deserved.

Anyway, hello all, good afternoon/evening.

To absent friends.

Evening Chris - all okay?

Yes, your excellent nomination

Yes, it should have worked out better for them

well i know what happened to kossoff, but fill me in on the band

Instead of the big push for this album, the band languished in show cancellation hell due to Kossoff's problems. The Texan keyboardist left, replaced by John Rabbit Bundrick, formerly of Free association, later a sideman for The Who. Also from Houston.

Kossoff was incapacitated for the recording of the second album, the band brought in a substitute, although Kossoff was credited and did play some leads.

Then as the band were getting on their feet, he died on a plane crossing the Atlantic. BSC shortened their name to Crawler, changed labels and management, got a new guitarist, Geoff Whitehorn, and gave it their best shot but third time proved same as the previous two (for Bloontz and BSC).

I'll address the elephant in the room.

Koss was great - one of my heroes but he is a shadow of himself at this stage.

Still, he is able to pull some excellent guitar solos together

By this time keyboard player Mike Montgomery had taken the reins composing most of the songs

RIP Koss

Montgomery is not as strong a singer as Wilson-Slesser. Think Survivor is let down by his performance - the band are played well, but he was drowned out rather, possibly deliberately.

as ya know, reap was a huge kossoff fan. whenever anyone would talk about losing musicians early, he'd always bring up kossoff. reap was also so sympathetic about droog downfalls. and reap never did any droogs in his life.

I love the sludgy/down and dirty production, but with powerful drums, and guitar leads that cut through it all.

Yes. Tragic kath

Absolutely tragic

At the time I also felt sorry for hid dad - actor David Kossoff who did so much to try and save his son from the gradual downward spiral.

I recall David being interviewed and sounding elated that his son warmaking some recovery. Av few weeks later he was dead.

David was devastated

Some may remember him

It's a great listen, no?

I vividly recall buying this album in Spring 1976.

I was being sulky and aged fifteen, and grudgingly went on a family shopping trip to a big mall on the other side of town. I found a big bin of discount, cut-out records, and this was there for $1.99, easily in my budget.

I had recently read in Trouser Press magazine about the band in a Free restrospective. I was so happy. I went out miserable and came home full of joy.

All The Girls Are Crazy.

I have been known to sing this chorus under my breath during fractious incidents in various relationships.
