Just finished playing it for the first time.
There's little doubt that one is listening to a Tull album.
It contains the usual ingredients - up beat guitar and flute driven stuff to the more acoustic material with a range of mandolin, accordion and a bit of harmonica thrown in.
Twelve tracks with ten under or on 4 minutes - no long epics.
The rest of the band have been with Anderson for a few years and most on the TAAB2 line-up.
Interestingly, some tracks have a TAAB3 feel in terms of the melodies, riffs and structure which is fine by me.
As I said before this album has the usual Tull elements so don't expect any surprises!
As we all know the main issue is Ian's voice. Technology can do wonders and for the vast majority of the time his voice sounds good. It's the slower tracks where he suffers - the ones where he is talking rather than singing.
Still that said I really enjoyed it. There were only a couple of tracks that I thought fell below par but in general an album that had my foot tappin' and my head noddin' for 90% of the time!
Finally, how often would I play it? Well, certainly more times than Rock Island or Catfish Rising
Give it a go
