Not really what I was looking for. I was intrigued by the duo as a means of one talented player using another , usually completely hapless mate, as a foil for their first steps into the music business. I gave a few examples and was hoping for more of both this type, and more common type where both contribute equally. But if you like Morecombe and Wise, then that is fine.
Yes, that is just fine.

Re: Duos, Duets
Listening to David Lindley & Wally Ingram. They toured as a duo and recorded several albums. Wally is very much a contributor. Sure, David could play solo but the rhythm provided by Wally really ups the ante.
David also did a duo album live in Japan with Hani Nasser, another percussionist. They may have made more than one album but Iam not aware of others.
What about Richard and Linda Thompson?

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Re: Duos, Duets
I'm not sure Eddie contributed much to Charles & Eddie except pose with his shampoo-commercial hair and shout the occasional, pained "oh yeah" on Would I Lie to You. (I think most of the suggestions here otherwise don't seem to have got the gist of the original post as far as I can tell)
