Elton John comp is icky

Postby GoogaMooga » 30 Mar 2021, 19:17

Got a number of Elton John comps, from the classic one in 1975 to the latest bang, "Rocketman". But one is going to Accord, the 1995 Mercury comp, "Love Songs". It is icky. Most Elton John comps of recent vintage will feature 80s sap, but this one is top-heavy on the 1980s. So we get "Sacrifice", "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word", "Nikita"... tell me when to stop.

Actually Googa I quite like the three you mentioned but on the whole his 70’s output tends to swamp anything that came after.

"sorry seems to be the hardest word" was released in '76.

although i agree with any and all comments that keep primo elton in the '70s, not beyond.

disclaimer: i do dig bits and pieces beyond that, but we're talkin primo elton.

Sorry seems....is one of his greatest songs. Nikita and Sacrifice are not in the same league.

Always think of Vic and Bob whenever Elton is mentioned. Not sure which one of them said it. "I've been learning to speak Hindu. It's really tough. Sari seems to be the hardest word". :D

I find it is a good idea to look at track listings of albums before I buy them.

Not sure I recognise that - is it an early one?

Apparently you do. You've started a thread to complain about it.

Not about the 50 pence, which I can recover.
