Bird songs
Not the dawn chorus.
And not songs about birds, so no 'Albatross', but songs with variants of the word 'Bird' in the title.
I just realised that this 'category' includes several favourites of mine:
A friend at university decided to free himself of all that tied him down, so he gave away all of his records. I got there too late to get his copy of Exodus and bitched about it for days:.
Also when I was at university, there was an all-night cafe that had a jukebox with this on. I'll always remember this and Paint it, Black echoing out at 3 in the morning as we ate chip butties:
I remember listening to this as I was leaning out of the window of my flat in London with a girl I was falling in love with.
It still makes me catch my breath.
In the earlier days of BCB i would occasionally look up a band that was being discussed, but which I'd never heard of, and then join in the conversation, pretending that i quite liked them. I did that with this bunch of Finns with an unpronounceable name, and Sergi 'Spalding' who happened to have two copies of their greatest hits collection, offered to send me one. I was too embarrassed to refuse. Luckily I really liked them, especially this track. I met him some time later and fessed up. He laughed.
As a child, I was quite the singer. Always took the lead in school shows. Once my voice broke I sounded more like a rat farting down a drain and I haven't improved over the years.
Anyway, this was the song I sang for some sort of badge, as a cub scout.
I always like the line: 'All around the cathedral, the saints and apostles...' Must be my Catholic upbringing:
There are plenty more I like: Surfin' Bird, Blackbird, And Your Bird can Sing, Free Bird etc.but the above are my favourites.
Anybody else like any particular 'Bird' songs?

"Bird's the Word" is gloriously daft:

Box Tops could deliver, even in the later years:

Re: Bird songs
Wonderful lyrics by Box Tops:
Get on up big bird, to my baby's love
Get on up big bird, to my baby's love
Get on up big bird
Cause I got to make it
Just get on up
Cause I got to make it
Get on up
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird, to my baby's love
Get on up big bird, to my baby's love
Get on up big bird
Cause I got to make it
Just get on up
Cause I got to make it
Get on up
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird
Get on up big bird

Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

A pedant notes that this is an Eddie Floyd number and a superlative Stax single.
A great nomination for the thread, one way or another.

Not pedantic at all. Thanks for the correction, Baron, credit where credit's due.

Doesn’t meet the criterion, but I hate to pass an opportunity to post the amazing Bobby Day record...and a pre Chipmunks David Seville, too.

Bird dog by the Everly Bros is wonderfully ludicrous.

My all-time favorite bird song, one of Dennis Wilson's first songs, if not the first:
