I have asked him that!

The answer was quite simple: more elaborate basslines are harder to play when you're singing. On the others' songs, he could focus solely on his playing.

I believe I've heard him say that before, so it's nice to see it confirmed!

I know this is a McCartney thread but I'm just wondering: have any of you ever seen Ron Wood in one of these "sitting in" situations where you didn't wonder who invited him and why?

I mean, he seems like a lovely bloke, and I'm a big Faces fan and all, but I've never seen him in this sort of setting where he didn't get in the way and/or make an ass of himself.

Yes. I too wonder what the mechanism/purpose of his presence here was. Doesn't seem to have any obvious connection or be a logical choice for this.

Ronnie and Ringo have been available to hire as a package since The Last Waltz. Little cards in telephone boxes all over the world advertise their services.

How long does it take to grow a beard like that?

During lockdown I let mine grow for about six months and it got HUGE, but it was nowhere near the size of that bastard. Must have taken him years.

I’d hazard a guess that’s about a couple of years growth. I grew one for a year, New Years Eve 2018 to New Years Eve 2019 and I’d say it was half a Rubin.
