Your 5 favourite 'psychedelic' songs

Postby fange » 31 May 2017, 10:53

I'll leave the exact definition of the word 'psychedelic' up to you - just post your 5 favourite tunes as they come to mind right now.

Mine -

The Byrds - Eight Miles High
Verve - The Sun, The Sea
The David - Time M
Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra - Some Velvet Morning
The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows

Among my top tripping favourites (not necessarily psych by genre), and all from the 60s
Misunderstood - I Can Take You to the Sun
Grateful Dead - Dark Star (version from Live Dead)
Butterfield Blues Band - East-West
Country Joe and the Fish - Here I Go Again (or Porpoise Mouth)
Byrds - Eight Miles High

Did you play it, fange? Certainly fits the description.

And in a similar collagist spirit, I should have nominated Olivia Tremor Control's Green Typewriters suite from Dusk at Cubist Castle

It was just the first NWW track that sprang to mind. I do love it though, there's so few songs that are sonically funny, rather than lyrically, and this cracks me up.
