Yes. I can't think of any other musician whose death would affect me more.
Rather dumbly, just wish I could thank him for all that wonderful music.

Just...wow. Utterly speechless.

He obviously means a great deal to people here (myself included, regardless of my criticisms of most of his recent music). I'm sorry for his loss, but his recent music definitely seems to be an attempt to go out with his head held high. I'm glad he was able to succeed, and hope he went peacefully.

As one of my FB friends said, we will start to hear his new record very differently.

We were richer for his having lived, for sure.

Fuck.

Totally dumbstruck

Puts "Black Star" (song/album/video) in a different light, to say the least.

RIP Mr Jones - you were a true artist.

What a class exit, however - in this age of information overload, to release an album and then depart while fans are still debating it without any knowledge of the circumstances. I only heard the album for the first time yesterday.

Very sad news.

I guess tickets for that rumoured tour to support the album come at a higher price than most gigs.

I don't know what to say. This is devastating. I was grabbing a coffee when I saw the news, I had to pace around the building to calm myself down. It did seem curious, given the total secrecy around his previous album, that this one came out in quite a normal fashion. Nothing with Bowie comes normal.

RIP David Bowie, I thought you'd last forever.

I just switched on the BBC news to find this. It's difficult to take in.

RIP David.

My wife is devastated.
