Graham Parker Stick to Me 1977

Parker didn't make any bad records in the '70s, and this is no exception. Not as good as either Howlin' Wind or Squeezing Out Sparks, more in line with Heat Treatment, another fine record.

Pentangle Basket of Light 1969

Probably my second fave after the debut (could never really get into Sweet Child, despite some fine tunes).

Graham Parker Mona Lisa's Sister 1988

Pretty good, and the only Parker album I know from the '80s.

Tim Buckley 1966

Still delightful mid sixties debut by Elektra's finest teenager. Perhaps his most 'folk rock' offering, some of these songs go places Van Morrison would later travel to.

Spencer Davis Group Eight Gigs a Week 1996

Virtually everything Winwood recorded with the band. There might be a song missing or something. Anyway. all three albums, EPs, stand-alone 45s and B-sides. The highlights were great, and there's no denying the teenage Winwood was a phenom, but the usual, rather pedestrian covers of African American artists dominates.

Used to have one or two of their albums but they weren’t great, in fact pretty dull really as you hinted at in your last sentence. Now just got a couple of best of/greatest hits albums which is all I need, oh, and Mulberry Bush.

Van Dyke Parks Song Cycle 1968

Though I've had this record for decades, I rarely can summon up the nerve to play it. It actually sounds okay right now, but his voice is almost unbearably twee, and the cutesy cleverness can be grating. I don't even know what to call this music, it's certainly not rock, or folk rock even. Baroque pop, maybe.
