Backslapping time. Well done us. We are fantastic.

True, I don't have anything new to add to this. However, I'm still bumping the thread because it might be useful in the upcoming Secret Santa project. That is, in trying to determine what to get so-and-so poster, here is a sort of shorthand to what he or she particularly likes.

As a bit of fun, I might try and compile an equivalent list to what my "favourites" are now, some 10 months later. My music "collection" has more than doubled in the time, so it might be a bit interesting, and furthermore, might be calculated differently (there's no doubt that those ones I listed probably had a lot more avaliable listening time than my new favourites, but that's just because I've got more stuff now)
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

1. David Bowie- Low
2. VU & Nico
3. Van Morrison- Astral Weeks
4. The Clash- London Calling
5. Dusty in Memphis
6. PE- Fear of A Black Planet
7. Crowded House- Together Alone
8. DJ Shadow- Endtroducing
9. Beck- Odelay
10. The Byrds- Mr Tambourine Man
11. The Bob Dylan Live 1966 "Royal Albert Hall" concert
12. Sly & The Family Stone- There's A Riot Goin' On
13. Grandaddy- The Sophtware Slump
14. Wire- Pink Flag
15. Massive Attack- Blue Lines
16. John Cale- Vintage Violence
17. Wilco- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
18. The Smiths- Hatful of Hollow
19. SFA- Radiator
20. Bob Marley- Live! 1974

Just looked at my original list. Out of the original 20, I'd say DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Bowie, Clash...actually all of them have got some play, maybe not as much, I dunno
However, there are several which I haven't played as frequently as the 'alternative 23' I'm going to posit for the purpose of this (and I've decided not to include compilations, which amount to a large percentage of what I've purchased over the last year)...

Buzzcocks, Another Music in A Different Kitchen
Brian ENO, Here Come The Warm Jets
Patti Smith, Horses
Roxy Music, Stranded
Gregory Isaacs, Night Nurse
The Go Betweens, 16 Lovers' Lane
Skinnyman, Council Estate of Mind
Captain Beefheart, Safe As Milk
Wu Tang Clan, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
SJD, Lost Soul Music
Velvet Underground, VU (1985 reissue)
Al Green, Call Me
Dexy's Midnight Runners, Searching For Young Soul Rebels
James Brown, Live At the Apollo, Vol. 1
Husker Du, Warehouse: Songs & Stories
T- Rex, Electric Warrior
The Fall, Grotesque (After the Gramme)
Tricky, Maxinquaye
Rolling Stones, Exile On Main Street
The Shins, Chutes Too Narrow
NEU!, NEU! '75
Rolling Stones, Exile On Main Street

So, not sure what's changed, really, as I said it's really been compilations Lists are frustrating, really.

Now that I start re-considering this, I don't really know how my list will be much different.
You better come on down to Austin this June!
