Why go for live versions of absolute classics, B? Some good stuff there but I've never seen the Feelies as anything other than irritants. And The Go-Betweens bore me to tears.
A is nearly all good.

Both of these lists just look stultifyingly dull. It's meat and praters stuff, and I can't be arsed with it.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 15
A is a great eccentric list. For the juxtaposition of The White Mandingos and Antlers alone it deserves to win.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 15
List A:
Billy Jack - Curtis Mayfield -
Autograph - The Tears -
Harvest Moon - Neil Young - I was kind of bored by Harvest Moon when it came out. Now it sounds great.
Know Your Product - The Saints -
Tammi Terrell - I Can't Believe You Love Me -
Warn a Brutha - White Mandingos - Worth investigating.
Palace - The Antlers - At this point, it's too VH1 Adult Contemporary for me.
Fast Love - George Michael - RIP. He was my thing. To me, he was a guy who was never quite Marvin Gaye
Your Move - Yes -
Up In Heaven (Not Only Here) - The Clash - Kinda Clash-lite
List B:
Split Enz – Message to My Girl - I like Finn, but this is not one of his better songs.
Robert Wyatt – Stay Tuned - This may be a grower for me. If this list makes it, I'll take another crack at it.
Strait Jacket Fits – She Speeds - Doesn't click with me
The Lighthouse Keepers – Gargoyle - Nicely sinister
The Feelies – Crazy Rhythms -
Stevie Nicks – Wild Heart - VH1: Behind the Music. At first I thought, who are those two nondescript bridesmaids?
Lou Reed – Street Hassle (Live Chicago 1978) - This is Lou's "Jungleland", isn't it? But it hindsight, not as good as I remembered. Still, a chilling O.D. story.
The Blue Nile – Soon (Laurel Canyon Mix) -
The Go-Betweens – Rock and Roll Friend - meh.
Nada Surf – Gold Sounds - Nice tune!
A is a much stronger list.

B is well put-together and I could certainly listen to it, but I would be lying if I said it is all really to my taste. A mixes things up a bit better: there is imagination and heart and the odd bit of absolute bobbins there.
I think I know who both of these are, actually.

B.
"Message To My Girl", besides being brilliant, is also my wedding dance song. Although I admire the pick of "Fastlove" on A, the rest of the list couldn't sway my emotional attachment to the opener of B.
