Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 7
I sense B has a theme going on here, but they've also backed it up with some excellent choices. I would listen to the songs if they were arranged in that fashion, and that's what counts.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 7
Even in past years I've had a propensity to vote against any list with Saint David in it, and his selection somehow seems even more cynical this year and yet I'm still going with the assorted highs and lows of A over B which MInnie, bobbie and Sandy aside doesn't do it for me. I love that Wally Badarou album and Joni will always get me onside. I also liked the Jacobites. I don't like Rap and Hip Hop at the best of times but could be persuaded by a top notch example. That Redman however was dull in the extreme. Still

Again, this is a pretty good match up. Some nice deep cuts that I'm going to come back to and some firm favourites. It's harsh but I think B has tried that high risk Cup strategy - the themed list - and just about knocked it off.

A for Jacques Dutronc and The Jacobites

You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

Nice lists! But like all-themed lists, B has to be consigned to the dustbin, despite having a couple of great choices.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 7
With a few exceptions, A could have been my list. The Dion track in particular is a longtime favorite.
I tend to view themed lists with suspicion in general, and the presence of Bjork and Cat Power puts them at an immediate disadvantage with me. A few good tracks, but not nearly enough.

Despite the Newsom, the Cat Power and Ladyhawke sway it to B
