Who gives a fuck? I suppose it adds a little to our negligible (132 year) history and it was the greatest match in the history of football!!!!
Shame we didn't do it through honest income like that given to United in the fifties by Louis (sells dodgy meat to schools) Edwards and his honest methods of bringing in youth team players - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Edwa ... alpractice

:D well precisely - although if we're bringing honest dealings into the equation i'm not sure Mansour is the greatest example either. :)

you think..I'd say they solved that particular problem when they got that huge stadium sponsorship deal.

I'll see if my cousin Lloyd (who did enrol here briefly) will post an answer to that. He'll have loads to say! :)

I'm sure that will be looked at. Clearly financial chicanery but the authorities are so gutless, I guess they'll get away with it.

Because Sheikh Mansour isn't directly involved with Etihad Airways then I don't think there's anything to they can do. The owner's money is not counted as income generated by the club, but there's nothing to stop the owner from using his contacts to pump money into the club.

Rightly or wrongly, success in the Prem is largely down to money. Fergie and the rags are slightly freakish in that they finished joint top with a pretty average team excepting Rooney and Vidic. Says a lot about Ferguson's skills as a manager. But we were the best team over a season and played the most attractive football regardless of the southern-biased media wankfest around Spurs.

Our owners are very astute businessmen. There are loopholes in FFP. Chelsea have more to worry about than MCFC.

Dzeko to Bayern for 25 million? Van Persie to City? That could explain his current form for the Dutch...mind on other things?

I think we'd do a lot worse than keep him but Van Persie, Aguero, Nasri and Silva? Oooo!

I'd be very surprised if you get Van Persie. He'll either stay in London or move to Spain or Italy.

I guess it depends how much he's motivated by money. He's got one more big pay day if he moves now as he's late 20s. I doubt he'll stay at Arsenal somehow but wonder if he'll join Fabregas.

I'm sure he's not impervious to money, but it doesn't appear to be his main motivation. He'd obviously like to win trophies, but he's also pretty loyal to Arsenal. I don't think he'd be comfortable moving to City. I suspect he'll try to stay on for another year then try and get a move to one of the big Spanish clubs on a free, but we'll see.
The other thing is Arsenal will really not want to sell to City. Selling Nasri is one thing, Van Persie quite an other. If need be, I reckon they'd rather take less money from a foreign club.

G, we had this about Nasri & Fabregas. Trust me, if VP decides he's going to go, he'll dictate where he goes, not Arsenal. If he wants it to be City, it will be - because, if Arsenal say no to City, he'll just wind the clock down and City will get him for nothing in a years time. Arsenal are a business - they may prefer he went elsewhere but, in reality, once VP has decided to move, Arsenal will maximise the revenue from him by selling him now. And it really makes no difference what other clubs want him - he'll decide where he goes, not the other clubs and certainly not Arsenal.

Of course it's the player who ultimately decides, I wouldn't suggest otherwise. However the two clubs still have to make a deal. Nothing I've heard suggests Van Persie is interested in City anyway.

True. Tevez has spoken publicly about wanting to stay but many fans don't trust his motives (or more importantly those of his agent). Dzeko is Munich bound and Balotelli is...well, he's Balotelli. We're linked with Cavani too. More of a risk but 5/6 years younger than Van Persie. We need an effective wide player too. I think we missed out on Hazard.
