Great Young Cast!

Great Young Cast!

Postby Dr Markus » 17 May 2012, 21:14

What films have had a great young cast that would lead to most o them becoming great actors in their own right. The idea or this thread came from watching TAPS the other night. I'd never heard of this movie but when i seen the cast list, it's pretty impressive.

TAPS
Tim Hutton
Sean Penn
Tom Cruise

Diner
Mickey Rourke
Kevin Bacon
Paul Reiser

other suggestions?

Well The Last Picture Show is the obvious one.

Maybe The Breakfast Club and Stand By Me. And Trainspotting.

Dazed and Confused (though only Mcconaughey and Affleck had long careers)
The Outsiders
The Godfather (depends on your definition of 'young')

I would have picked this.

Cruise, Lowe, Swayze, Estevez, Dillon, and even Leif Garrett!! And Tom Waits!!!

Oddly the main protagonists, Ralph Macchio and C Thomas Howell had the least successful careers.

This is a brilliant film. I saw it for the first time a few years back, and at the end thought "they don't make them like this any more".

my Dad was working double shifts as a projectionist at a "twin" in Culver City in 1971. During the day I would watch "Willy Wonka" over & over with my little sister. In the evening she would nap in the booth and I would go down and watch "The Last Picture Show" every night for a couple of weeks. Normally this would have been too "adult" for my dad to have approved. Lucky for me, the other screen was showing "Carnal Knowledge" so, it didn't seem so bad.

I didn't see "Carnal Knowledge" until years later. I'm not convinced it's the more "adult" of the two.
