I lived in San Diego for 5 years. Some of my best memories are of this NFL legend. Such sad news.

R.I.P. Junior

This is yet another case of one can be a super star to millions yet when it comes to their personal life it becomes such a mess there seems like no way out. He will be both honored and missed dearly. If his number has not been retired yet it should now be. With the Chargers that is.
How would you like to be remembered? Oh I don't know. I suppose if we are remembered as a great little rock and roll band it would be fine.........

Don't really know what to add - I'm not a Chargers fan, but it doesn't matter. Junior Seau was one of those number guys - you just mentioned #55 and most NFL fans would say "Junior Seau". No higher credit can be paid.

Such a huge loss.

In this morning's paper, Niners' coach Harbaugh said his last game he played was with Seau and the only time he'd ever asked another player for his jersey after the game was with Seau. Harbaugh respected him that much.

Seau is also the second former NFL player to shoot himself in the last two weeks.

I think everyone really liked Seau, especially in San Diego. As a football and Raiders' fan, any AFC West game, whether it's against the Chargers, the Chiefs, the Broncos, gets ratcheted in intensity. Those Chargers/Raiders game were fun when Seau was playing.

I kinda followed him, and he seems his life had gone off the rails a bit the last year or so.

Who knows?

That's happened for the last few years with new rules.

NFL faces new lawsuit by ex-players

Updated May 3, 2012 2:27 PM ET

ATLANTA (AP)

More than 100 former NFL players have filed a federal lawsuit in Atlanta claiming that pro football didn't properly protect its players from concussions.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit include former Atlanta Falcon Jamal Anderson, ex-Georgia star Lindsey Scott and veteran quarterback Don Majkowski.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Georgia, claims the league failed to protect NFL players from brain injuries linked to football-related concussions.

They are among more than 1,000 former NFL players suing the league. The cases say not enough was done to inform players about the dangers of concussions in the past, and not enough is done to take care of them today.

The league has said any allegation that the league intentionally sought to mislead players is without merit.

If you're interested in this issue of NFL players and head trauma, I suggest listening to the link below.

http://www.knbr.com/portals/3/podcasts/ ... 2lynch.mp3

Goes into workers' comp and Disability ramifications with players and the NFL. Some of the stats regarding dementia and NFL players is amazing.

They also mention that the reason the NCAA doesn't want to pay college athletes are the workers comp ramifications, because if they paid them, then they'd be employees.
