I can't imagine that there's anyone on BCB who hasn't laughed along with/gasped in awe of/felt humbled by the seemingly effortless wonder of Kath's contributions here. Take care.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Just a thought I had this morning (and PMed the idea to martha): people closer to kath maybe will write individually, but couldn't we send her a collective card from BCB? Maybe somebody in the USA could send a few simple words saying it's from us all.

I, for one, would like that. I've been thinking all day that I would like to send a card or something but I don't have her address.

Like most people here I haven't met kath or anyone in her family but feel a closeness that the Internet has delivered against predictions of all sorts of cynical reports. We ARE a version of family and ironically this sort of catastrophe sort of proves it. I love kath, and I don't even want to qualify that. I love how she writes about her family and how they are, whether they know it or not, part of our lives. I have comfort in the, I don't know, the kathness of kath. I hope to meet reap and kath one day and when I do I will be in a version of home.

I hope and trust that peace can be found in kath's family. Tonight I will raise a glass to the life of an artist I hoped to meet one day.

Sleep easy, sweetheart.

It's been the same for me today. I've read kath's posts, especially about her family, for a long time now (CRFs when she had a blog there and since I joined here) and all that kept popping in my mind today was the post she'd last written about Beezle. She is amongst friends and big fans here and it's evident that we are here to support her through this difficult period, as she does time and again for us. Stay strong kath, you must. Lots of love, me.

It's very difficult to think of words to say, but I really like these posts and would like to echo the sentiments.

Likewise. Very well put Bryan and Savoirefaire.

My sincerest and deepest condolences to Kath and all her family.

Thanks, Bryan . . . I think you've said what a lot of us feel.

Just wanted to echo this statement. Bryan's post summed up how I've felt today very acutely.

I saw the news this morning on Facebook. How incredibly sad and heartbreaking. There really are no words. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kath and Reap.

In the comments on Facebook someone posted Kath's thoughts on Beezle going away to college and it is extremely heartbreaking to read in light of what happened. I'm not an overly emotional guy but I teared up after reading it. I was going to copy and paste it here but I felt that might be too tacky. I advise anyone on Facebook to seek it out if you haven't read it yet.

Thanks Martha.

I'm as deeply upset about the news as everyone else here.

If anyone speaks with her, let her know that I'll take care of any legal issues for her that might need to be cleared up, if she needs that done.

Too stunned for words. Devastating barely describes it.
