I think Prof's 'Usual Suspects' type line up is a great idea. Seriously.

What has always struck me about the UK is how the agrarian butts up against the urban.

I think an image of a man or woman looking out against a fence with a pasture behind him in the close background with an urban landscape in the background would take in both sides. Or, do a pic of a person leaning against a fence looking out with a pasture or field in the background with an inset framed photo of an urban landscape in the top left corner taking up the top third of the page.

The text would be a mix of scroll and modern graffiti text. A mix, but perhaps possible.

That's right off the top of my head though.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk!

There you go eh?...I'm not very arty so I felt I couldn't possibly even try to help...what a shame I'm not one of "the artier posters"...I'm awash with brilliant ideas too...they're oozing out of my pores like sweat on a nun holding a pregnancy test.

I know...if I could be arsed I'd be upset but I'm far too busy nursing my inferiority complex to fret too much

Well Roddy did of course!

He specifically asked for "arty types" to give him suggestions for his book...like non arty types couldn't possibly have an idea that might be of use to him...and did he get a good suggestion?...no...he just got a load of piss-takes.

Speaks volumes!

Well the Usuall Suspects one was good but I preferred the one that involved pointing at an otter.

The basic formula for becoming 'arty' seems to be;

English or Irish poet + (modern invention or unusual place) + animal or rodent found by the riverbank = Book cover
