Didn't even bother with A.
B by a mile, although like the NY pick very predictable.

Both fine for me without being real standouts. A is fresher to my ears, so...

Wash your ears out Fange ffs!
The Buckingham is very ordinary midwest radio fodder.
The Walker Brothers adapt their 60s epic balladry to a 70s countryish sound effortlessly. It's a great track with a sweeping splendour.

It's also one of the worst album titles I've come across. Can you imagine wanting to call your album "Gift of Screws"?

Christ, don't talk to me any more about sweeping bleedin' splendour!
Old Mr. Croony pants can take his sweeping fuckin' splendour and shove it where the sun ain't gonna shine any more!

Wot the Fish said, pretty much. Don't hate A or love B (though that's actually pretty understated by usual Walkerstandards).

A is like a choice made by throwing a dart at a list of Lindsay Buckingham songs.
B wasn't really to my taste. I like some Walker Bros but this sounds too mainstream AM radio for my taste.
Abstain.

Essential Oils — are wrung —
The Attar from the Rose
Be not expressed by Suns — alone —
It is the gift of Screws —
The General Rose — decay —
But this — in Lady's Drawer
Make Summer — When the Lady lie
In Ceaseless Rosemary —
Emily Dickinson

He'd have been better off quoting from the Whitman opus "Ode to Spanners".

Re: Free Form Cup Final Round Match 6
A has all the elements I like from Buckingham: good instrumentation, strong hook and blistering guitar.
B is a great standard, but it's exactly that, a standard, and I'm inclined to vote against those if the alternative is strong enough.
