Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
No prizes for guessing that I'm voting for B here, but I will say that I should explore that period of Yes a bit more - A is right proper prog. But Wyatt is still/will always be my guy. I only wish this had been his debut solo album instead of End of an Ear (probably my least favorite thing he ever did).

Drama is an excellent album even though I came to it relatively late.
This tracks a superb track and bounces along delightfully - awesome!
This selection is most robust
Like Dave, I love Robert's work too.
From '68 and I recall Hendrix plays on one track
Close, but I'm going for Robert

Drama is a fine album, as is 90125,. I love a bit of Soft Machine but this sounds like a low fi demo. and is a bit plodding.

Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
Well, I am certainly enjoying everyone's picks much more this round. I'd never actually heard that Yes before, which strangely reminds me more of Rush than Yes, so I'm going with it for the freshness factor over the perfectly fine Wyatt track.

Two good and enjoyable tunes that i wish were instrumentals. This is my cross to bear, i know, but progressive rock singers often make me wince; i enjoyed both of these tracks musically though. Bold and brash vs. more laidback and introspective. Hmm, B by a nose.

In your face Softie.

I agree with Mr Jung, Wyatt most definitely cannot sing.

Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
an admission: i am, in fact, a yes freak. many an album and show. the very last time i camped for tickets in my life, i got eight front row seats in the 80s.
but i was never a big drama fan. reap luvved it and would try to convert me to his drama love. i remained kinda sorta... okay.
i am warming more to it these days. apologies to the B picker, but i wasn't impressed.

I've tried with Drama for 35-odd years now and I still am not a fan. it still beats B by a comfortable margin...

Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
Oh dear!
I'm a big fan of Robert Wyatt and I was thrilled by the news of the '68 material getting a release, but what a let-down: most of it sounded painfully disjointed, fumbling and out of tune, and this is no exception.
And Drama is when I definitely stopped bothering with Yes, and this won't change my mind
Still: A

Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
The Yes track fair bounces along with wonderful bass from the late, great Squire and crisp drumming from Alan White and I have no issues with Trevor Horn's vocals on his own material.
Wyatt somehow manages to ruin everything he does with his "singing" no matter how much merit it has musically. This track was never more than just ok to my ears.

Re: PC21- Round 2 Match 8
I really have tried but all Yes after Going for the One sounds different to me and I've never been able to really enjoy it. Great musicianship and actually nice music just not a fan.
B- Hard start to this Wyatt song but then gets going. Big Wyatt fan so I'll take it here.

After playing the Yes song thought it would be a shoo in for Robert.
Then I played Wyatt's song.

It is a rare Robert Wyatt who would clasp that to his or her bosom.
Certainly not I.

I suppose I have heard the occasional thing involving Wyatt that hasn’t made me run for the hills but it doesn’t get much worse than this and I am positively sprinting for higher ground right now.
