Love me some Italian prog in small doses. This is rather a horse pill :D , but it's still fun in its way.

And I'm a bit burned out on Trees these days given their prevalence here, and they're really only about my tenth favorite UK folk-rock band at best to begin with (side note - I should do the full ranking over on Googs' thread), but if I'm honest I enjoyed A a bit more.

ooooooooooooof!

This is going to be a corker of a match-up!!!!

Trees (unfair to compare them with Fairport - Trees had a harder, trippier edge)

Sally Free and Easy is a magnificent track taken from their second album

That's Katie Meehan, daughter of Tony Meehan from The Shadows on the cover.

Awesome

Then there's Banco - one of the three greatest prog bands to come out of Italy - I love them!

Darwin, is considered by many to be their best album

Francesco Di Giacomo had such a great voice [killed in a traffic accident]

A tough call for me, it's almost a tie, but I am going

-+B+-

Having owned both of these albums, I knew I didn't have to listen to know which one I preferred. Still I listened some as a reminder, and my initial impression wasn't wrong.

A took a while to get going but I liked it when it did
B I’ve got one of theirs, but not this one... I’m not really in the mood for it

know both these tracks hard choice as both would have won several matchups so far.

Darwin is a top album and this is one of the better tracks I'm going to give this to them.

Good match. There are times i might go for either track here, both have qualities i like. The OTT liveliness of Banco is sounding great right now, so going with that.

You can see where the Cocteau Twins stole their schtick in A. B is just bonkers.

Not the greatest Trees track

But one of the best and most OTT Banco tracks

The prog-folk leanings of A were delightful.

B is much more firmly in old school prog territory but was full of great instrumentation and the type of keyboard sounds I love. Complex and bonkers at times but never to annoying levels which is no mean feat.

Strong match but I'll give it to the Italian boys

The days here are growing darker now which would be the better environment for A to blossom but Banco is rolling the skies back here and shine a light....

Mmm, my Cup runneth over with this match.

Loads to like about Banco but the Trees track sounded bloody lovely. (Would have liked a proper ending - or maybe no ending at all, just waking up with it still playing in the morning would have been nice.)
