Wow - match 1 was great, but since then...

A is a bit much vocally but is still probably my favorite of the newer folkies so far. At least there seems to be something of an original vision there.

B is by Stan Rogers' brother - obviously a very talented player. And with that I've exhausted anything I can possibly say about it. Nothing about this that hasn't been done a few thousand times over.

Anaïs Mitchell had a nice rhythmic feel to it and the steel guiatr was very pleasant.

I liked the female voice but the male voices were a bit over top.

I lost interest after a couple of minutes - then the violin came in which picked it up.

Garnet Rogers sounded from the outset as my type of folk.

Very nicely played I wasn't sure about the voice but general I preferred the song to A.

So, B has it

Yes, B has it

Enjoyed A a lot, the use of the two vocalists really worked in its favour and instrumentally very nice too. A lovely track. I'd be interested in hearing more.

B had some very nice playing but didn't really have enough about it to lift it to another level to compete with A

I was getting worried by that steel guitar, thought it might be edging a track down a gorgonzola avenue. But then the duck-voiced woman came in and my worries that slight quirks of instrumentation might ruin a quality song were gone. The bloke's not much better either, reminds me of the fella from Tunng when they went shite. Not for me this one. No sirree.

Garnet Rogers looks like Bill Bailey trying to flog Milk Tray. A strange choice of track for the final, as it seems poorly recorded, especially around the vocal. Might just be some bloke down the local pub who can play a bit and sing a bit. Which is what folk's about, really.

Not as strong, this match; both have a bit of charm but also aspects i dont like so much. I'm going with A for the groove.

Good grief. This is the Final you say?

A is horrible beyond words. The vocalist wants to be a Country singer, but hasn't got a truck or a Grandma to sing about. Then the totally inappropriate male singers come in. A complete car crash.

B has nice picking, but not sure about the vocal. Reminds me of something you might hear at your local folk club.

Mainly because it isn't A.

First impressions left me more than underwhelmed.

Replays, days later have let me be nearly whelmed. B's vocals may be let down by being too low in the mix and strangely the vocals in A have grown on me (don't fret, scrubbing will remove).

Nice match...

I figured that A's voice would be a dealbreaker for some (Joanna Newsome territory), but it really rocks my boat more.
