Davy is the dog's wotsits - one of the folk godfathers.
This is an interesting - I suspect some might stop listening before it gets going.
Very nice.
B was new to me and delightful it was too I live a bit of uilleann pipes and bodhrán me.
This is a difficult choice
But, B has it

Both pretty damned cool, but I think A is more daring. Much-covered song it may be, but he takes it to a lot of different places. It's almost too much, but damn - what an amazing brain full of musical knowledge to come up with something like that. Makes you appreciate both the song and him.
B is pretty cool too, but more trainspotty by comparison.

A was a very creative cover of a great song.
B sounded like Mike Oldfield in novelty mode.

Davy Graham's often overlooked in the Brit folk pantheon, seems to have been outshone by Bert Jansch, and I must admit that I haven't delved that far into his back-catalogue. This is a wildly inventive cover , and has the added bonus of Danny Thompson on bass. A rare example of great drumming in folk, too. What a pick, probably the best this round, even though it's the first track I've heard.
I did wonder if B was going to start with the Harlem Shuffle 'Jump Around' intro. It's unlucky, because this feels like more genuine Irish folk than some of the plastic paddy stuff we've been fed so far, but it's up against a superb choice.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

You know they're not Irish, right?
I guess Galician counts as Celtic, but still - I wouldn't be so didactic if you hadn't used the word "genuine.'

Davy Graham is the godfather, I know, and I never heard this Joni cover. It's a shame but it doesn't really work for me.

Both Sides Now is one of those songs that perpetually gets ruined (arise please Clannad) so to hear this vivacious cover is nice but I'm not so keen on the vocals.
B is just fun. Pavane, anyone?

A: A familiar tune but an adventurous reading and rather what I'm looking for.
B: Quite wonderful but over-matched here by Graham's titanic display.

Like Neige, the cover didn't work for me. Jason Falkner does a great version at a similar faster tempo, but as a kind of powerpop thrash. Here it sounds rushed and he sounds disinterested like he'll be glad to get to the end. The quality of playing though, beats B which I really didn't connect with.
