A is overlong second rate big beat. It's the kind of music which I grew up on in the 90s as a teenager and then ditched when I discovered techno and IDM but at the very least it's not Supergrass.

Not crazy about either, but B is more my sort of thing.

Two great tracks which put most of the picks so far to shame -you see music doesn't have to be willfully tuneless and difficult, or thin blooded and weedy.
Richard III is Supergrass at their most pulverising with a juggernaut riff and an unstoppable momentum. Private Psychedelic Reel is the best thing The Chemical Brothers ever did; a really intoxicating update of psychedelia that adds layers upon layers of sonic excitement. I'm voting for it because it's the kind of selection that has been woefully underrepresented in the indie dominated cup and because it winds up the EDM snobs.

To translate what G says above, music doesn't have to be inventive or interesting, it can be dull, safe, repetitive and unengaging, too.

The Chemical Brothers track is overlong and boring, a basic drum track with cack-handed synth presets flung over the top. Supergrass do the rock music for accountants thing again - ooooh, look at us rock out, but quite quietly, so as not to upset the neighbours. At least the title describes the track.

Ha!
Translation: What we need more of is some middle aged white bloke screaming about torturing someone over the sound of a pneumatic drill. Anything else is just bland music for housewives.

Now you're talking. I knew this cup had been missing something.

The Chemical Brothers were always the most appealing of the "big beat" crowd and they made some good singles, although I'm not really a fan of this one, which I find pretty overblown with the big chunky drums bashing their way through it all.
'Richard III' is one of the Britpop highlights that genuinely stands up: energetic, catchy and fizzily satisfying.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Good choices. B is good but personally not a Supergrass fave, but A is about as good as CB got

a - I actually own this - or did, perhaps it's been sold on. The CBs always seemed to have a bit more about them than just beats, and this track typifies this, dropping out the drums all together at times: although it's about as psychedelic as drinking bong water, it crashes and beeps along in a satisfying (to me) way, and actually lifts the spirits. 6 / 10
b - I also quite liked Supergras, and bought more than one record by them, too, although I don't remember this track; it's much more power trio, and less poppy, than I remember them; lacks the exuberant edge that I enjoyed about them. Literally undistinguished. 4.5 / 10

I always liked that CB track, I think I may even have the CD single somewhere.

I like some Supergrass and this would easily got my vote in other ties but the CB track is too much of a heavyweight for it
