BCB Cup 2022 - Discoveries and rediscoveries

Postby fange » 22 Jul 2022, 08:11

The fave songs you see picked, either new to you or ones that you've been reminded of.

Here's one i have enjoyed, a nice discovery-

Really liked this Rokia Traore tune, very spare and funky with that North African guitar sound, and lovely vocals.

I really liked the Mother Nature song from match 5. The Viscounts one was good too. I don't think I voted for either list but at least I liked one track from them :D

Just a correction in case you want to explore them further - they are called Modern Nature.

I did exactly the same with similar results. One commented on the intro being similat to "Friends" by Led Zeppelin, which I can kind of see. I think the Laura Marling album "Once I Was An Eagle" certainly borrows from it too.

Yep, I liked the Jerry moore track a lot and will seek out the album.

This is an artist I had never heard of but was impressed by Bad Attitude and have enjoyed the album very much.

Am now playing this one - also very good.

There is something wondrously deranged about this Deerhoof track in B's list in match 6 :
