It’s obvious to me who made List A and I’m already very familiar with several of these it because I've listened to them for my own pleasure a lot. That Frank Alpine racket was completely new to me though but like it too.

There’s not a song on List B I dislike but then again it doesn’t have Moor Mother, Alice Donut, or Coil on it either. The Angel Olson link doesn't work, I had to find another way to listen to it.

B, I'm sure half the band names in A have been made up.
You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

B is pretty much faultless to my ears...

the Tom Paxton in A is surely a mistake? :?

I think A has genuinely tried to play as mainstream a selection as he felt able to. B is much safer but it's also good as well.

i liked most of A. an especially worthy second half run from coil through roots manuva.

i liked all of B, with one exception. (i don't know what my monkees problem is right now. maybe i've developed a sudden allergy. i hope it clears up soon.)

List A:
1. Portion Control - Havoc Man - I’ve had about enough of that loutish chanting
2. Art Ensemble of Chicago - Rock Out - I sometimes like soul-numbing monotony. But not in music.
3. Tom Paxton - She's Far Away - What a relief after those last two!
4. Moor Mother - Tell Me About It - Soundtrack to water-boarding.
5. Frank Alpine - Dark Places - Some of the best random yipping I’ve ever heard. God, this endless.
6. Coil - The Snow - Losing my will to live. I had started a Spotify playlist of all the BCB Cup 2017 songs. It was at this point that I said, “Fuck that shit!” I’ll never listen to it.
7. Drugstore - Spacegirl - More tolerable. About three minutes in it gets groovy, man.
8. Mairee Sioux - Buried In Teeth - I like this. Kinda Simon & Garfunkly. Bit long, though.
9. Alice Donut - Sky of Bones - OK
10. Roots Manuva - Don't Breathe Out - I would put this on a mix.

List B:
Big Thief- Vegas - I like this.
Neil Young- Like a Hurricane - Pre-approved.
Guided by Voices- Skills Like This - This is a group I always tell myself I need to explore and then forget about. They’re up my alley.
Iggy Pop- Neighborhood Threat - Image
The Monkees- Long Title- Do I Have to Do This All Over Again - Trippin’!
Wilco- Impossible Germany - A live clip! Maybe someday a BCB Live Video Cup could be a thing.
Angel Olsen- Not Gonna Kill You - I’ve listened to this album before. Still not sure how I feel about it.
Childish Gambino- Redbone - I’m impressed and envious of how many things Glover does well.
Bobbie Gentry- He Made a Woman Out of Me - a fine piece of country/soul/pop
Lynn Williams- Don’t Be Surprised - Love

Despite A's valiant attempt to induce the Stockholm Syndrome, I pick B

Best match so far! Some very good selections from B, Childish Gambino's been on my watchlist for the last few months and what I'm hearing here does not disappoint in the slightest, while Angel Olsen's track is also very neat. I watched Wilco live last year and they were superb, "Impossible Germany" one of the show's highlights.

Had the list been against any of the first or second matches it would have probably taken the win, but man, A is where I live. On top of some great assured picks in Art Ensemble of Chicago and Coil, I have already written down Moor Mother, Alice Donut, Mariee Sioux and Roots Manuva as artists I need to check out more from. That Moor Mother track in particular was *fantastic*, discovery of the cup so far for me!

A, but a great match from either side.

b is a good mix of the known and etc unknown but I take my hat of to A, nice mix of stuff in there that had me playing more and looking more into each of the artists. Some of it was confirmed as Shite like but there were more nuggets in there cf the familiarity of B.

I listened to A in the interest of fairness - honest I did , but let's just say it wasn't my thing and leave it there. I would probably have predicted Angel Olsen as this year's "finger on the pulse" choice - wouldn't be surprsed if she appears again.

Pretty easy B, although I admire A for not shutting down the Loud Cup just yet. And the Paxton cut is good.

A has some challenging stuff - and Tom Paxton (!!!!?). A couple of those I might want to listen to again but perhaps not just yet. B was a bit boring but that'll do here.
